THE BAND
The band, (what would later become FATAL MAIM) was conceived in 1984 after founding members Bob Watters and John Scarfone (both with Altoona/Pittsburgh thrash metal band Giornesto) saw a band called Anaconda (Tommy Brown, Sean Markell) playing one night at Sebastiano's, Altoona. This is where they discovered lead singer Troy Earnest and his brother guitarist Jody Earnest. It wasn't until 1986 when Troy Earnest, Troy's brother Jody Earnest (also of Anaconda) and John & Bob's good friend Rich Piccerillo joined, the band was formed. The new lineup started rehearsing in John's attic downtown on 11th street, moved to Bob's garage across town, Behe's basement in Lilly, PA and finally set up permanent headquarters on the top floor of the Engine Room (what is now Dave Villani's Data Music Service Studios). They kept a persistant practice schedule, rehearsing every other day. When the band started playing out, they quickly built a following and became regulars at the Engine Room, Sabs, Aldo's and local keg parties, most memorable was Kegfest, their first time playing together in public and also Troy's 21st Birthday Bash at the clubhouse of a popular Gun Camp. The Band also played some benefits at area firehalls. After a while, the band sort of just played itself out. In 1988, Troy & John were recruited to help some of their friends/bandmates by working as Lighting Engineer/Stage Designer on tour with the pop band Sidewalk Romeo. This tour took them all over New England and into Nova Scotia and Quebec Canada. John brought a 4 track recorder, drum machine and custom suitcase-size guitar on the road. While working in Nova Scotia Canada, an extended stay in Quebec/Paladium due to weather, a week in Old Orchard Beach Maine and aother week long stint at William Henne's Management Headquarters/Band House in Ascutney Vermont, several of FATAL MAIM'S original songs were written. Not long after returning home with their stack of newly penned tunes did they begin the process of reviving the band. Everyone knuckled down and practiced 24/7, became tighter, faster and gained a greater appreciation for the band, it's members and it's purpose. Their goal was to find a sponsor or financial backer and get into the studio to make a demo. Once in the studio, the band ended up knocking out enough tunes to make a small album. They set out on the road in 1991 on the "Molest and Maul Tour" to promote this new CD project "One Beyond The Grave." The rest is history.......................>>> SPECIAL THANKS!
